What is the course about?
This course is designed as a follow-on from the Introduction to Acrylic Painting course and will help you further develop your techniques and build confidence in your artistic abilities. Each week, you will use your growing skills to complete a new painting, allowing you to practise and refine your approach.
You will learn how to prepare your canvas, apply a wash, mix colours, and use both brushes and palette knives effectively. The course will also explore how to create a variety of landscape and seascape images, while gaining confidence with tools, materials, and composition.
Why should I choose the course?
If you have an interest in acrylic painting and would like to develop your skills further, this is the ideal course for you. This course will allow you to unleash your creativity whilst building upon your existing knowledge and practical experience.
What will I learn?
During this course, you’ll gain hands-on experience with a range of painting techniques to bring your creative ideas to life. You’ll learn how to select and use different types of equipment, prepare your canvas, apply washes, and confidently mix colours. You’ll also explore how to apply paint using both brushes and palette knives to create striking landscape and seascape artworks.
If you’d like more details about the learning outcomes, please email ACLenquiries@wvr.ac.uk.
What will the course lead on to?
After completing this course, you’ll have a range of exciting options to continue developing your creativity. You could explore other non-accredited courses at the college such as Watercolours or Drawing & Sketching to further refine your artistic techniques. Alternatively, you might consider enrolling on our Introduction to Art & Design course, which offers the chance to experiment with various mediums while providing a pathway to our accredited art courses.
