Supporting our local community

Our links with local organisations provide students with valuable volunteering and fundraising opportunities.

Fundraising

At college there are lots of opportunities to join in and raise money for local and national charities that the college is proud to support.

Staff and students raise money for various campaigns and charities including Breast Cancer Now's 'Wear It Pink', Children in Need, St Rocco's Hospice, Comic Relief, and so many more! Warrington & Vale Royal College also host regular fundraising opportunities to help raise money for the college's food bank.

Sports students litter picking at livewire

Working together with LiveWire to make our local community #OneStepGreener!

As part of our sustainability efforts, our sports students recently took part in a 'Big Clean Up' at Orford Park with the team from LiveWire. Each student was given a high-vis vest, a rubbish bag, and a litter picker where they then set out to clean up our local park. The end result spoke for itself, with over 20 bags of rubbish collected. A huge well done to our students for getting involved!

Encouraging sustainability in our community

As part of our sustainability efforts, throughout the year we take part in the Bag2School campaign where we encourage staff and students to donate unwanted clothes. So far we have raised £195 by taking part in the Bag2School campaign which has been donated to support our college's food bank, as well as contribute to sustainability projects at the college. Moreover, during Sustainability Week, we held a clothes and book sale throughout lunchtime which resulted in just over £140 raised for our college's food bank.

Community Fun Day Saturday 6th July 11.00am-3.00pm

Community Fun Day

On the 6th July 2024 we held our second annual Community Fun Day where we raised just over £1000 for St Rocco's Hospice. The event was a huge success and we were joined by over twenty exhibitors from highly esteemed organisations such as the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire and Rescue, and Kinaxia Logistics, as well as members of the local community to raise the most amount of money possible for a great cause.

Working with local charities to encourage recycling

As a committed partner of the college, Weee Charity has consistently provided invaluable resources, including high-quality electronic equipment, which has significantly benefited students’ quality of learning. Beyond these generous donations of equipment, Weee Charity has also facilitated several industry placements for the college’s Foundation Learning students. These placements have provided students with practical skills and insights into the importance of recycling technical equipment and operating sustainably.
