Engineering
Studying an engineering course will provide you with the technical skills, practical experience and underpinning knowledge to achieve employment in this growing industry. Whether you want to study an engineering apprenticeship or T Level engineering, each course offers you both practical and theoretical knowledge you’ll need. Our engineering courses range from level 2 or level 3 BTEC and T Level engineering courses for school leavers, to higher technical qualifications (HNC, HND, HTQ) and part-time courses for adults - as well as a wide range of engineering apprenticeships.
You will study your engineering course in our Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Academy which is fitted with a range of specialist equipment to allow students to learn in a professional environment. The academy supports students in applying smarter manufacturing techniques and these facilities are available to all engineering students, whether you’re studying an engineering apprenticeship or T Level engineering.
Trips and visits
Throughout your course, you will have the opportunity to make several visits to engineering employers. This will give you a real insight into the different roles available and inspire you to work towards your future career.
The Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Academy boasts connections to some of the biggest names in the local engineering industry, and students will benefit from a host of guest lectures and live briefs, allowing students to fully immerse themselves in the sector.

The college regularly works with an array of companies, including AstraZeneca, Thomas Hardy Brewery, Sonomatic, Schneider Electrical, Chromolloy Track Precision Machining, James Briggs and Pro Cranes. You will benefit from workshops, demonstrations and guest talks from industry experts to enhance your knowledge of the sector.
During your course, you could complete exciting industry placements to increase your practical experience and boost your career prospects. Previous students have had the opportunity to work with companies such as BGEN, Sellafield and Oliver Valves, and many have made such a positive impression that they have been offered a job!
In addition to the sector-specific knowledge developed throughout your industry placements, you will also develop vital employability skills including communication, customer service, enthusiasm, motivation, problem-solving and attention to detail. This ensures that you are fully prepared to succeed in the workplace when you leave us.
