What is the course about?
This short introductory course will show you how to use a variety of equipment and techniques to create art pieces using a wide variety of mediums.
Why should I choose the course?
If you love art and enjoy being creative, this course is perfect for you! You must be aged at least 19 to enrol on to this course
What will I learn?
Each week the course will look at different forms of medium, showing you how to use a variety of techniques to enable you to start drawing and painting. Mediums include:

- Oil paint
- Acrylic paint
- Oil pastel
- Soft pastel
- Pencil

Watercolour painting is not usually covered in the course, as we offer separate watercolour courses.Â

After completing this course, you could progress on to a wide range of accredited and non-accredited courses. Please speak to our Learner Services Team for more information. Perhaps you would like to take a related course such as watercolours or ceramics to expand your skills further!

What are the entry requirements?
You must be aged 19 or over and have an interest in the subject area. You must also be willing to partake in classroom activities and discussions and to self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan at the end of each session.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
There will be no additional costs. Basic materials are provided, including paper, mediums, and basic brushes and pencils. Please discuss with your tutor prior to purchasing your own equipment for the course
