If you have always dreamt of working with and inspiring students, in a school or further education setting, our education and training courses can help you achieve your goal. Whether you already work within an educational setting or are looking to take your first steps into this rewarding sector, our courses will equip you with all the knowledge and practical skills you will need to become a successful educator and provide you with a clear route into teaching.

As this is a part-time education and training adult course, trips and visits are generally not applicable. However, there may be opportunities to visit higher education institutions to gain an insight into where your studies could take you.

I am an

Adult Learner

Our education and training courses are suitable for adults wishing to begin a career in teaching or assessing students. From short introductory courses through to level 5, our courses span a wide range of topics including planning lessons, presentation skills, inclusive approaches, assessing learners, and child development.

Many of our education and training courses require students to complete an extensive work placement, which ensures they develop practical experience and key sector knowledge.

I am a

Higher Education Learner

Our higher education course is ideal if you have previously studied education and training and wish to take your skills to the next level. Whether you are currently teaching or wish to enter the sector, this course will develop your teaching skills and prepare you to competently work in a post-16 further education setting.

Meet our students

Camron Guttridge Education & Training student

Camron Guttridge enrolled onto our Level 5 Education & Training course to further develop his role as Learning Technologist here at the college to gain a deeper understanding of teaching and learning.

After previously working as a content editor, he wanted a new challenge working in the education sector but needed to gain more experience first. So far, Camron has developed his knowledge of teaching and learning practices, curriculum design and the wider, crucial role of a tutor.

He tells us that his tutors have provided 1:1 support whenever needed, are very approachable and nothing is ever too much. Camron’s end goal is to one day become a tutor or lecturer and he feels that the course is fully preparing him for this.

The course has really helped me to progress and develop my delivery in the classroom. The tutors are very supportive, they provide lots of motivation and encouragement with progression and personal development.”

Jenny completed the Level 5 Diploma Education & Training course alongside her part-time Apprenticeship Coach role at the college.

Nichola Evans Education Training Lecturer Headshot

Nichola Evans

Education & Training Lecturer Nichola Evans has ben training teachers for the last six years, following a teaching careers of over twenty. After starting her working life as a maintenance engineer, she retrained as a maths teacher, a job she enjoyed doing at schools in both England and Wales. Nichola advocates for an inclusive and trauma informed approach to education, and instils this in her teaching practices. She also understands the challenges of studying whilst working.

Nichola joined the college in September 2023 and is really pleased she made the move: “The college is such a supportive and friendly place. I love training new teachers and helping them to navigate their dual professional status from tradesperson/ subject specialist to teacher/ trainer of that subject. It’s great to see the progress through observations, as confidence grows over the duration of the course.”

David Lenton Education Tutor

David Lenton

Teaching and Learning Manager David Lenton studied Education Studies with English Language and Literature at Liverpool John Moores University, before completing his PGCE with Manchester Metropolitan University. He has taught at numerous colleges as well as being part of Liverpool Hope University's steering committee and focus group for their teacher training programmes.

David recently joined the college and is really enjoying teaching here: "It's great to be able to teach the fundamentals of teaching to new practitioners. Our curriculum doesn’t just encompass the content of the specification, we also integrate emerging and current practice within the education industry because of the links between curriculum and teaching and learning."
