Education & Training

If you have always dreamt of working with and inspiring students, in a school or further education setting, our education and training courses can help you achieve your goal. Whether you already work within an educational setting or are looking to take your first steps into this rewarding sector, our courses will equip you with all the knowledge and practical skills you will need to become a successful educator and provide you with a clear route into teaching.

Trips and visits

As this is a part-time education and training adult course, trips and visits are generally not applicable. However, there may be opportunities to visit higher education institutions to gain an insight into where your studies could take you.

I am an

Adult Learner

Our education and training courses are suitable for adults wishing to begin a career in teaching or assessing students. From short introductory courses through to level 5, our courses span a wide range of topics including planning lessons, presentation skills, inclusive approaches, assessing learners, and child development.

Many of our education and training courses require students to complete an extensive work placement, which ensures they develop practical experience and key sector knowledge.

I am a

Higher Education Learner

Our higher education course is ideal if you have previously studied education and training and wish to take your skills to the next level. Whether you are currently teaching or wish to enter the sector, this course will develop your teaching skills and prepare you to competently work in a post-16 further education setting.

Dale Solan Cooper Testimonial Headshot

Ryan Steele is currently completing our Level 5 Education & Training course to enhance his teaching skills and progress his career within the Further Education (FE) sector.

He discovered the course through his line manager at the college and is thrilled at the opportunity to learn new teaching theories and practices, which are helping him to teach his trade.

“We get so much support from tutors and staff, they are very approachable. I don’t hesitate if I need to ask them any questions as the teaching environment is welcoming and inviting!”

Dale Solan Cooper Testimonial Headshot

"The course was fantastic and my tutors were extremely supportive."

Dale found his course extremely useful, with the perfect blend of practical work and theory. He feels the course set him up well for his career as an ESOl lecturer at a further education college.

Camron Guttridge Education & Training student

Camron Guttridge enrolled onto our Level 5 Education & Training course to further develop his role as Learning Technologist here at the college to gain a deeper understanding of teaching and learning.

After previously working as a content editor, he wanted a new challenge working in the education sector but needed to gain more experience first. So far, Camron has developed his knowledge of teaching and learning practices, curriculum design and the wider, crucial role of a tutor.

He tells us that his tutors have provided 1:1 support whenever needed, are very approachable and nothing is ever too much. Camron’s end goal is to one day become a tutor or lecturer and he feels that the course is fully preparing him for this.
