Education & Training

If you have always wanted to work with students in a school or further education setting, our adult teaching courses can help you turn that ambition into a career. Our education courses for adults support those already working in this rewarding sector, and those looking to take their first steps into it.

Trips and visits

Trips and visits are not usually included on our part‑time adult courses. However, there may be opportunities to visit higher education institutions, giving you helpful insight into progression options and where your studies could lead in the future.

I am an

Adult Learner

Our education and training courses are ideal for adults who want to start a career in teaching or assessing students. We offer a wide range of courses, from short introductory programmes through to level 5 education and training qualifications, covering essential topics such as lesson planning, presentation skills, inclusive teaching approaches, assessing students, and understanding child development.

Many of our education and training courses include a substantial work placement. This allows students to gain valuable hands‑on experience, build confidence, and develop the practical skills and sector knowledge needed to succeed in education and training roles.

I am looking for an

Apprenticeship

Get into teaching with our Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship!

The Learning and Skills Teacher apprenticeship prepares individuals for a rewarding career in teaching and training within the post‑compulsory education sector. It is an ideal option for those looking for adult teaching courses or a part‑time teaching course that leads to a recognised professional role.

This apprenticeship supports teaching careers in Further Education (FE) colleges, adult and community learning, work‑based learning, and other education settings that deliver vocational, technical, and professional programmes. It provides a clear progression route into teaching.

Meet our students

Ryan Steele Testimonial Headshot

Ryan Steele is currently completing our Level 5 Education & Training course to enhance his teaching skills and progress his career within the Further Education (FE) sector.

He discovered the course through his line manager at the college and is thrilled at the opportunity to learn new teaching theories and practices, which are helping him to teach his trade.

“We get so much support from tutors and staff, they are very approachable. I don’t hesitate if I need to ask them any questions as the teaching environment is welcoming and inviting!”

Dale Solan Cooper Testimonial Headshot

"The course was fantastic and my tutors were extremely supportive."

Dale found his course extremely useful, with the perfect blend of practical work and theory. He feels the course set him up well for his career as an ESOL lecturer at a further education college.

Camron Guttridge Education & Training student

Camron Guttridge enrolled onto our Level 5 Education & Training course to further develop his role as Learning Technologist here at the college to gain a deeper understanding of teaching and learning.

After previously working as a content editor, he wanted a new challenge working in the education sector but needed to gain more experience first. So far, Camron has developed his knowledge of teaching and learning practices, curriculum design and the wider, crucial role of a tutor.

He tells us that his tutors have provided 1:1 support whenever needed, are very approachable and nothing is ever too much. Camron’s end goal is to one day become a tutor or lecturer and he feels that the course is fully preparing him for this.
