Foundation Learning

Foundation learning Winsford campus

Foundation Learning is for students aged 16-18.

Foundation Learning provides an entry‑level route for students who will benefit from a more supported move from high school to Level 2 or Level 3 study. These courses focus on developing core skills, including communication, confidence, independence, and teamwork. They also offer individualised support in subjects such as English and maths.

Designed to support students' progress at a pace that suits them, Foundation Learning helps build the knowledge and resilience needed to move on to higher‑level courses or into employment. The ultimate aim is to support each young person in gaining the independence and readiness they need as they move into adulthood.

Supported Internships

Supported internship Winsford campus

Supported Internships are for students aged 16-24.

Supported Internships are structured and work‑focused, designed for young people aged 16–24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and are ready to move closer to paid employment with the right support in place.

Interns spend the majority of their week in a real workplace, learning practical tasks and developing confidence with the help of experienced Job Coaches. This hands‑on experience is combined with continued learning at college, where students build essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving — all of which prepare them for life beyond the internship.

These internships are an ideal choice for students who benefit from routine, enjoy practical learning, and would thrive with personalised guidance as they take their first steps into meaningful employment.

Preparation for Supported Employment

Designed for students aged 17–25 with an EHCP, this course helps to develop the skills, confidence, and experience needed for the world of work. Students will build employability skills, improve English and maths, and take part in meaningful work experience both in and out of college. This course is ideal for students whose long‑term goal is paid employment.
