What is the course about?
This advanced, studio-based course is designed for adults aged 19+ who have prior experience working with clay and are looking to further their personal and creative development. Guided by a professional ceramicist, you will refine your techniques and build on your existing skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Ideal for those wishing to explore ceramic making in greater depth, this course offers the opportunity to experiment, develop your artistic voice, and push the boundaries of your practice.

What will I learn?
During the course, you will learn through demonstrations and hands-on practice. You will explore a range of hand-building techniques, including:
- Throwing
- Coiling and slab building
- Figurative clay modelling
- Surface decoration
- Glazing

What will the course lead on to?
Once you have completed the course, you could progress onto the Level 1 Creative Crafts (Ceramics) course, and then the Level 2 Creative Crafts (Ceramics) course here at the college.

You should have completed the 'Introduction to Ceramics' and 'Next Steps' courses, as this 'Advanced' course is designed as a direct progression from those levels.
