What is the course about?
Would you like to get into the festive spirit by creating your very own Christmas wreath? This fun half day course is suitable for students aged 19 and over and is designed for beginners or anyone who has previous basic knowledge of flower arranging. You will produce a beautiful Christmas wreath to take home and hang on your door!
Why should I choose the course?
You should choose this course if you have a basic knowledge of flower arranging and would like to gain the skills needed to produce a festive Christmas wreath. This very popular class will allow you to have fun, make a unique wreath, and perhaps even make some new friends!
What will I learn?
During the course you will learn how to:
- Identify materials used to construct a Christmas wreath, for example sundries, dried materials, and fresh materials
- Create a wreath using moss, a wire frame, wreath wrap, mossing pins
- Design a wreath using different materials to include colour harmony, balance, and proportion, following a Christmas theme
- Create a wreath by adding your own distinction into the finished design by using suitable accessories
- Record the costing of the Christmas wreath design for selling purposes, showing a breakdown of materials used and labour charge.

During the course you will be observed and coached by your tutor.
What will the course lead on to?
The college offers different themed floristry courses throughout the academic year including, spring, summer, and wedding flowers, along with introduction and next steps courses.
These courses will give you the basic skills required to enable you to progress on to an accredited course with another provider.
Are there any links with industry and university?
The course will give you basic skills and techniques which can be used if you wish to start working or volunteering in a floristry shop or market.

No previous qualifications are needed, just an interest in the subject.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
Basic materials will be provided including holly, foliage, pinecones, dried fruit, moss, ties, frame, and red ribbon.
If you would like to use a particular flower/foliage, colour theme, ribbon, and accessories for your design, then please bring these along to the class.
If you have your own scissors, which can be floristry or general kitchen ones, you can bring them to the class.
You may wish to bring gloves to use for cutting and handling holly.
