What is the course about?
This is a short course is a progression course which builds on the skills and techniques learnt on the Basics to Floristry helping you to develop your creative wellbeing.
Why should I choose the course?
On this course you will practice and enhance your basic knowledge and skills further by producing more detailed and artistic designs.
You will learn more about sustainably and how to use household containers to build your designs in reducing the need to use plastics.
What will I learn?
During each class you will cover
- Develop interpretation of principles and elements with a particular focus on colour & symbolism with the designs
- Develop creative skills & wellbeing through planning & preparation of designs
- Prepare for employment & or volunteer sector through recording and costing
- Continue to develop & build all previous floristry design experience
- To research & replicate contemporary & sustainable new design concepts and materials
You will be informally assessed by the tutor, and you will also self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan.
What will the course lead on to?
The course leads onto short themed courses such as Spring, Summer, Wedding and Christmas, depending on which courses are available during the terms in the academic year. We also offer a theory Flower Shop Floristry course, which looks at working or volunteering in a floristry shop if you are looking at a career change.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?
No previous qualifications are needed to enrol on to this course and all equipment is provided. Course is for adults 19+.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
The College provide each week the basic flowers, foliage and materials for you.
We do ask if you can provide extra foliage and containers and your tutor will advise you on this at your first class.
Please also bring a pair of floristry or household scissors
