What is the course about?
This exciting practical course gives you the opportunity to experience and experiment with costume jewellery in a variety of creative ways. This course provides a stepping stone to your future creative practice.
Why should I choose the course?
This is an introductory course aimed at adults aged 19 and over who enjoy learning new skills and techniques, with the intention to produce costume jewellery. You will develop a range of knowledge and skills to better prepare you for future employment. This will include practical making skills, creative thinking, idea generation techniques, problem solving, communication, research skills, analytical thinking, and safe working practices.
What will I learn?
During the course you will learn through demonstrations and practical making techniques which include:
- Shaping and forming copper and aluminium
- Enamelling techniques
- Metal patination and embossment
- Etching techniques
- Construction techniques
- Creative research and design skills
- Soldering
- Combined materials such as glass and porcelain
What will the course lead on to?
On completion of this course you may wish to complete one of our jewellery making ACL courses. Alternatively you may wish to apply for an accredited Level 1 NCFE Art course.

What are the entry requirements?
There are no prerequisites requirements other than an interest in jewellery and a desire to learn a new skill.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
Material cost is payable by all learners and is £30 for the 5 week course. You will also need to bring your own apron and have closed footwear.
