What is the course about?
This inspiring part-time adult course is perfect for those aged 19 and over who are interested in learning the beautiful and versatile art of watercolour painting. Whether you're completely new to the medium or looking to develop a creative hobby, you’ll gain practical knowledge of tools, materials, and essential watercolour techniques.
Each session will guide you step-by-step as you build confidence and take your first steps into the exciting world of watercolours.
Why should I choose the course?
If you love being creative and enjoy trying new artistic techniques, this introductory watercolour course is a fun and rewarding way to get started. You’ll learn how to create your own expressive, colourful paintings while developing your artistic skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.
You’ll be taught by experienced tutors who will help you:
- Understand the equipment and materials needed for watercolour painting
- Explore techniques for applying washes, blending, layering, and texture
- Gain the confidence to begin producing your own artwork from scratch
What will I learn?
The course will show you how to use the brushes and equipment properly, teaching you techniques like colour washes that can be applied to a wide variety of watercolour projects. The skills you acquire will give you the tools to grow with and allow you to keep continue painting at home. You will learn:
- What equipment there is and how to use it
- How to apply a wash
- How to apply “wet on wet”
- How to apply “wet on dry”
- How to create a reflection.
You will be assessed informally by the tutor with the completion of set tasks, and you will self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan. You will also complete a portfolio of paintings to take home with you.
What will the course lead on to?
After completing this part-time adult course, you may wish to expand your artistic practice by progressing to:
- Next Steps in Watercolours
- Other non-accredited creative courses
