What will I learn?
Through a mix of demonstrations and one-to-one support, you will learn how to create successful compositions, apply layered paint techniques, and capture the foreground, middle ground, and background. You will also explore how to depict skies and clouds, as well as convey lighting effects, atmosphere, and mood in your artwork.

The course will lead onto our Next Steps in Landscape Painting course.
Are there any links with industry and university?
The techniques shown to you are in line with those used by professional practicing artists. You will be advised on presentation and mounting techniques.

You will receive personalised one-to-one support throughout the course, ensuring you get the guidance you need to develop your skills and confidence. Technical demonstrations will be provided regularly to help you master new techniques and approaches. Additionally, small group sessions encourage peer interaction, allowing you to share ideas, get feedback, and learn collaboratively in a supportive environment. Should you need further assistance, our dedicated Wellbeing Team is also available to provide additional support to help you manage any personal or academic challenges, ensuring your overall experience is positive and rewarding.

There are no formal entry requirements however you must be interested in landscape paining and be prepared to try new things.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
You will need to provide your own basic materials, including a variety of acrylic paint brushes, a set of acrylic paints, a palette, a water jar, and a suitable surface to work on. We recommend an A2-sized canvas, board, or canvas board to support your creative projects.
