What is the course about?
This introductory craft and design course invites you to explore your creativity through hands-on experimentation with a variety of materials and techniques. You’ll work across a range of disciplines, including drawing, printmaking, stained glass, and ceramics, building a strong foundation in creative practice while discovering which areas inspire you most.
Why should I choose the course?
If you have an interest in art and design and wish to brush up your skills with the support of our highly qualified teaching team, this course is perfect for you. We have an extremely well-established art department with highly experienced tutors. All students who are interested in the subject and would like to learn more in a friendly and welcoming environment are welcome to join the course.
What will I learn?
You will be introduced to a wide range of materials, processes, and techniques including drawing, painting, mixed media, and printing. You will produce a series of artworks to take away with you each session.
What will the course lead on to?
On completion of this course, you may be interested in progressing onto our Next Steps in Design Craft course, which is the perfect follow on.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a Wellbeing Team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
The college will provide the basic art materials required for this course. If you wish to work on surfaces other than paper, such as canvas or canvas board, then you will be required to purchase and bring these with you. However, this is not essential.
