What is the course about?
This practical course will introduce you to the versatile media of soft pastels. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of drawing using soft pastels, including mark making techniques, blending, colour theory and creating the illusion of depth in your work.

What will I learn?
During the course you will learn through demonstrations and practical work. Key skills will include:
· Mapping out a composition for soft pastel study
· Building up a soft pastel study through mark making, blending and tonality.
· Colour theory including strategies for creating serenity and calmness versus energy and impact.
· Capturing a range of given and personally chosen subjects through use of soft pastels

What are the entry requirements?
A passion and enthusiasm to try soft pastels as a media. No previous experience required.
Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
Basic materials for the course are provided, however if any extra materials are required, the tutor will advise you of this at the first class.
