What is the course about?
Spring is the perfect time to start making beautiful and eye-catching flower arrangements. If you would like to learn basic floristry techniques using a variety of seasonal flowers, then this course is perfect for you. You will use a range of seasonal flowers to create different floral arrangements.
Why should I choose the course?
If you have an interest in floristry and would like to learn more about creating unique floral arrangements to take home, this course will be ideal for you. Bring your ideas to life with this fun and exciting short course! The course is suitable for beginners aged 19 and over.
What will I learn?
Each week you will learn basic floristry techniques including:
- Use different materials and containers to form various shapes including a circular posy and triangular arrangement
- Identify and complete one floristry technique in each design to create and show distinction by adding your own creative flair
- Create various types of hand tides and aqua packs, learning balance, design, and beautiful wrapping
- Learn and quote the Latin and common names of three flowers that are used in your arrangements
- Learn how to cost one design of your choice to be sold, including breakdown of cost, profit, and labour charge.

What will the course lead on to?
After completing this course, you may wish to progress on to our Next Steps Floristry course to develop your skills further. We also offer other short floristry courses such as summer, wedding, and Christmas floristry, which could help you expand your skills and progress on to accredited courses.
Are there any links with industry and university?
The course will provide you with a range of basic skills and techniques, which you can use if you wish to start working or volunteering in a floristry shop or market.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

There are no entry requirements for this course. However, you must be aged at least 19 and must have an interest in the course area.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
There will be no extra costs, as all basic materials are provided.
Your tutor will advise if you can bring any extra foliage or materials to enhance your designs, if you wish to do so. If you wish to bring your own scissors (floristry or general household) you are welcome to do so, but this is not compulsory.
