Would you love to start an exciting career that allows you to see the world and meet new people? Whether you dream of working as cabin crew, a travel representative or a tour guide, our travel & tourism courses will help you take your first step into this exciting industry.
Upon completion you can go on to university and study a tourism management, hospitality management and other related degrees. Alternatively, you can go straight into employment, opting for a role in a variety of settings from flight attendant to working in luxury hotels, travel agencies and more!
Trips and visits
Students will have the opportunity to embark on exciting international trips to immerse themselves in new cultures and see prominent tourist attractions with their own eyes. Past visits have included popular destinations such as New York, Florida and Paris as well as visits to Chester Zoo and Alton Towers.
You will also have the opportunity to witness behind-the-scenes action with the likes of Swissport, Manchester Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and the Liverpool Cruise Terminal. Students also have the chance to experience real-world submersion cabin crew training in a swimming pool, provided by a renowned company that houses a training centre at Manchester Airport.
Industry links
The college boasts fantastic industry connections with local and national employers such as Visit Britain, Swissport, Liverpool Cruise Terminal and Hays Travel. You will experience guest lectures with industry professionals from airlines and national tourist boards, which will help you gain an insight into potential careers and the industry in general.
All students will be encouraged to participate in valuable industry placement while on their course, with students enjoying interesting and fast-paced placements in local hotels and specialist business travel companies. Students will also take part in a number of live briefs to develop their understanding and knowledge of the sector, with previous projects including the creation of a tourism trail with Culture Warrington to promote the town’s sites of interest, and developing a marketing campaign with The Hollies Farm Shop in Cheshire.
In addition to the industry-relevant skills developed throughout your industry placements, you will also develop vital employability skills including communication, customer service, enthusiasm, motivation, problem-solving and attention to detail. This ensures that you are fully prepared to succeed in the workplace when you leave college.
