What is the course about?
Already have some basic experience with watercolour painting? This part-time adult course is the perfect way to build on your knowledge and take your artistic skills to the next level. You'll explore new techniques and learn how to get the most out of your materials, continuing your journey into the vibrant world of watercolours.
Why should I choose the course?
If you love being creative and want to expand your watercolour techniques, this enjoyable short course is an ideal choice. You’ll have the chance to experiment with new methods while developing your personal artistic style through hands-on, practical learning.
What will I learn?
You’ll build on your understanding of tools and techniques to unlock more creative possibilities in your painting. Learn how to apply effects like masking fluid and salt application to add texture and depth to your work. You’ll also explore methods like layering and using gum arabic for different finishes.
During the course, you will learn how to:
- Identify and use watercolour equipment effectively
- Use the "drop-in" technique
- Apply masking fluid for clean edges
- Use salt to create texture
- Layer paint to build depth
- Work with gum arabic for gloss and blending effects
You will be assessed informally by your tutor through set tasks and will track your development using a weekly individual learning plan. By the end of the course, you will have created a portfolio of your own watercolour paintings to take home.
What will the course lead on to?
After completing this part-time adult course, you can explore a wide range of both accredited and non-accredited creative courses taught at the college.Â
