What is the course about?
Summer is a great time to start making beautiful and eye-catching flower arrangements. If you would like to learn basic floristry techniques using a variety of seasonal flowers, then this course is perfect for you. You will use a range of seasonal flowers to create different floral arrangements.
Why should I choose the course?
If you have an interest in floristry and want to learn how to create unique floral arrangements to take home each week, this course is ideal! Bring your creative ideas to life with this exciting and imaginative short course. It is suitable for beginners or for learners who have completed the Basics and Design & Concepts courses.
What will I learn?
• Creating various classic designs, such as round and long displays
• Developing techniques to produce oasis-free arrangements, for example jug and vase displays
• Gaining expertise in the use of colour in arrangements, including colour blending, contrasting, and monochrome
• Practising sustainability through upcycling and reducing the use of containers and materials
• Building a record of your work that can be used for employment, volunteering, or further development
You will be informally assessed by your tutor and will also self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan.

The College provides the basic flowers, foliage, and materials needed to complete your weekly design. However, you’ll be asked to bring some additional foliage each week to enhance your arrangements—your tutor will provide guidance on this during the first session.
You will also need to bring your own container, such as a jug or hanging basket. This will be discussed in more detail in the first class.
Please bring a pair of floristry or household scissors.
If you are sensitive to handling flowers or foliage, we recommend wearing gardening or rubber gloves.
