What is the course about?
If you want to learn basic floristry techniques using a variety of seasonal Christmas foliage, this course is perfect for you! Each week, you’ll work with different seasonal flowers and foliage to create beautiful floral arrangements, including a Christmas wreath and a long table decoration.

If you’re interested in floristry and want to create unique floral arrangements to take home each week, this course is ideal. Bring your creative ideas to life in this exciting and imaginative short course! It’s suitable for beginners as well as students who have completed the Basics and Design & Concepts courses.
What will I learn?
Each week, you’ll develop new floristry skills using seasonal flowers, including:
• Creating Christmas-themed floral designs using various mediums and containers to form different shapes, including flat-backed Christmas sheaths
• Identifying the three Principles of Floristry used in your Christmas designs and understanding the Elements of floral design
You will receive informal feedback from your tutor and track your progress weekly through an individual learning plan.
What will the course lead on to?
After completing this course, you may wish to continue with other short floristry courses throughout the year, such as Design & Concepts and themed courses like Wedding, Spring, and Summer floristry. These courses will help you expand your skills and knowledge and may lead to accredited qualifications.
Are there any links with industry and university?
The course will provide you with a range of basic skills and techniques, which you can use if you wish to start working or volunteering in a floristry shop or market.

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a Wellbeing Team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?
Ideally students will have attended the basics in floristry course or already have some foundational skills and techniques. This course is for adults 19+.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
The College provides basic flowers, foliage, and materials each week for your use.
You may be asked to bring additional foliage and containers, and your tutor will advise you on this during the first class.
Please remember to bring a pair of floristry or household scissors.
If you have allergies to any flowers or foliage, we recommend bringing rubber or gardening gloves for your comfort and protection.
