What is the course about?
This short, Christmas-themed course is suitable for beginners or those who already have some basic knowledge of flower arranging. During this course you will produce various floral designs including a Christmas wreath.
Why should I choose the course?
This course is suitable for adults aged 19 and over who have an interest in floristry.
What will I learn?
During the course you will:
- Create Christmas-themed floral designs using different mediums and containers to form various shapes
- Identify and create one creative Christmas technique in each design to create and show distinction by adding your own creative technique
- Create various types of Christmas bows using different ribbons and materials of different sizes and styles
- Learn to identify Christmas flowers and foliage by their botanical and common names
- Learn how to cost one design of your choice to be sold, including breakdown of cost, profit, and labour charge.

What will the course lead on to?
After completing this course, you may wish to take part in our Introduction to Floristry and Next Steps Floristry courses to develop your skills further. We also offer other short floristry courses such as spring, summer, and wedding floristry, which could help you expand your skills and even progress on to accredited courses.
Are there any links with industry and university?
The course will provide you with a range of basic skills and techniques, which you can use if you wish to start working or volunteering in a floristry shop or market.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
There will be no additional costs, as all basic materials are provided. You may be required to bring your own scissors (floristry or general household), a pen and a notebook. You may wish to bring your own flowers or foliage to complement those provided.
