What is the course about?
This short, 5‑week bricklaying course is designed as a practical follow‑on for those who have completed our Introduction to Bricklaying course, or for individuals with basic experience who want to further develop their trowel skills and confidence.
Why should I choose the course?
This short bricklaying course further develops a range of hand-skills and practical brickwork tasks that build on your basic pre-existing skills in order for you to further develop your skills and bricklaying ability.
What will I learn?
Over the 5 weeks, you will be developing skills and knowledge in the following:
- Learning to lay blocks in a simple straight line
- Correct techniques for laying blocks
- Ensuring blocks are level, plumb, and aligned
- Ensuring the wall is jointed/pointed for neatness and structural integrity
- Consolidating all previous knowledge, learning how to construct a cavity wall.
What will the course lead on to?
On completion of the course, you may wish to complete our next tailored learning course, Advanced Bricklaying, or even progress to a fully certified bricklaying qualification. Click here to view all of the Construction & Trades courses on offer at the college.
