What is the course about?
This non-accredited course is for you if you who wish to gain an introduction to welding skills and gain practical experience and gain introductory knowledge and skills in welding.
The covers a range of hand-skills and practical tasks in areas around health and safety and basic welding principles particularly around MIG.
What will I learn?
Over the course you will be developing skills and knowledge in the following:
- Health and Safety in the welding sector.
- Basic Welding principles
- Principles of MIG welding
- Develop and practice welding skills
What will the course lead on to?
The course could lead onto a Level 1 qualification in welding skills.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?
No previous qualifications are needed, just an interest in the subject.
Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
You will need to purchase a pair of steel toe-capped boots to allow for safe working in the workshop environment.
