What is the course about?

This course will build upon your existing skills and lead you towards a successful career in this thriving field. Whether you want to work as part of a larger company or aspire to set up your own business, our plumbing courses will help you to reach your career goals. Gain the skills and confidence you need to fit, service and repair hot and cold water systems, central heating systems, bathroom suites, and kitchens.

Why should I choose the course?

If you have successfully completed the Level 1 Plumbing course, then this is the natural progression route to lead you towards your chosen career. The course will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed for a career within the plumbing industry. You will have the opportunity to study in our fully equipped construction facilities with well-kitted out, modern workshops. Working with industry-standard equipment will help prepare you for employment in this industry.

What will I learn?

There are ten theory topics covered within this qualification, which include health and safety, site preparation, hot and cold water, central heating, above ground drainage, science principals, environmental awareness, and the structure of the building industry.

You will be assessed in the workshop via numerous practical assessments, and you will be required to pass ten online assessments based on each individual subject unit.

What will the course lead on to?

You may wish to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing, with the possibility of converting your Level 2 into an NVQ if employment within the industry is gained.

Are there any links with industry and university?

The college is continually developing and reinforcing links with the industry to promote work placement opportunities. We are proud to work closely with many local and national employers. A variety of guest speakers from industry are invited in to speak to students during the year, offering a valuable industry insight.

Throughout the course you may have the opportunity to take part in educational trips to enhance the learning process.

The college is committed to ensuring that all students benefit from the opportunity to undertake work placements whilst at college, and we will support you in obtaining a placement in a relevant vocational setting. It is our intention to try to place students with local employers. The placements will usually last two weeks and will complement your college programme. Some work placements completed by previous students have led to employment or apprenticeship opportunities.

What support is available?

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.
