What is the course about?
If you would like to learn basic floristry techniques using a variety of seasonal Christmas foliage then this is the course perfect for you. You will use a range of seasonal flowers and foliage each week and create different floral arrangements including a Christmas wreath and long table decoration.

If you have an interest in Floristry and would like to learn more about creating unique floral arrangements to take home each week, this course will be ideal for you! Bring your creative ideas to life with this exciting and imaginative short course! The course is suitable for beginners or learners who have attended the basics and design & concepts courses.
What will I learn?
Each week you will learn new floristry techniques using seasonal flowers including:
- Create Christmas-themed floral designs using different media and containers to form various shapes and flat-backed Christmas sheath.
- Identify three principles of floristry used in your Christmas designs and identify the elements of floral design.
- Create your own 8” Christmas wreath during the last week of your course.
You will be informally assessed by the tutor, and you will also self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan.
What will the course lead on to?
After completing this course, you may wish to progress onto our other short floristry courses throughout the year such as Design and Concepts and themed courses including Wedding, Spring and Summer floristry. These courses can help you expand on your skills and knowledge and progress onto an accredited course.
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?
No previous qualifications are needed to enrol on to this course, however some prior experience would be beneficial. This course is for adults aged 19+.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?
The College provides the basic flowers, foliage, and materials needed to complete your weekly design. However, you’ll be asked to bring some additional foliage each week to enhance your arrangements—your tutor will provide guidance on this during the first session.
You will also need to bring your own container, such as a jug or hanging basket. This will be discussed in more detail in the first class.
Please bring a pair of floristry or household scissors.
If you are sensitive to handling flowers or foliage, we recommend wearing gardening or rubber gloves.
