What is the course about?

This Level 2 Floristry qualification provides further development opportunities for those who have already completed our Level 1 Award in Floristry. We will also welcome applicants who can demonstrate, through a portfolio of evidence, considerable previous experience, skills, and knowledge in floristry.

This floristry course enables you to develop the creative and practical skills needed to work in floristry, combining artistic design with hands-on techniques. You will learn how to create a wide range of floral designs, including hand-tied bouquets, arrangements, and displays for different occasions such as weddings, events, and retail settings. Alongside developing your creativity, you will gain an understanding of design principles, colour theory, and how to select and care for fresh flowers and materials.

As part of this floristry course, you will also explore how florists work in real industry settings, including responding to customer briefs, working safely, and presenting your designs professionally. The qualification is ideal for anyone aiming to develop a career in floristry or develop practical skills for further study, employment, or self-employment in the sector.

Why should I choose the course?

If you enjoy being creative and working hands-on, this floristry course offers the perfect opportunity to turn your interest into practical skills. You will learn directly through making and designing, building confidence as you learn to create professional-standard floral arrangements using fresh materials. The course is ideal if you prefer a practical learning style and want to see tangible results from your work.

This floristry qualification also helps you take your next step, whether that’s further study, gaining employment, or developing the skills to start your own floristry business. With a strong focus on real industry practices and customer-focused design, you will be well prepared for opportunities in retail floristry, event work, or the wider creative sector.

What will I learn?

On this adult course, you will develop a range of practical floristry skills, learning how to create attractive and professional floral designs for a variety of occasions. You will learn how to produce hand-tied bouquets, arrangements, and decorative displays, while exploring key design principles such as colour, shape, balance, and proportion. You will also gain knowledge of different flowers and materials, including how to select, prepare, and care for them to ensure quality and longevity. Alongside your practical work, you will learn how to work safely in a floristry environment, use tools and equipment correctly, and respond to customer requirements and briefs. The course will also help you build confidence in presenting your work and understanding how floristry operates within a real business or retail setting.

What will the course lead on to?

This Level 2 Floristry course provides a strong foundation for progression into further study, employment, or self-employment within the floristry and creative industries.

The skills you’ll gain can also support entry-level roles in retail floristry, garden centres, and event styling, or help you become a florist and begin building your own small business. The course develops practical, creative, and customer-focused skills that are valued across a range of industries, giving you flexibility in your next steps.

Are there any links with industry and university?

This floristry course has strong links to industry, helping you understand how floristry skills are used in real working environments. You will have opportunities to work on live briefs, develop designs for special occasions, or engage with local florists. These experiences help you build practical skills, understand customer expectations, and gain insight into careers within the floristry and creative industries.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?

The college provides the basic flowers, foliage, and sundry materials needed to complete your designs. However, you’ll be asked to bring some additional foliage each week to enhance your arrangements—your tutor will provide guidance on this during the first session.

You will also need to bring your own containers, such as a vase or basket depending on the design. This will be discussed in more detail in the first class.

It is a mandatory requirement for you to bring a pair of floristry or household scissors.

If you are sensitive to handling flowers or foliage, we recommend wearing gardening or rubber gloves.
