This course encourages you to develop your personal arts style allowing for greater creative freedom and the chance to produce more personal and expressive work. You’ll continue to develop the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for success in art and design. The course will support your progression, whether you aim to move on to further study or explore career opportunities within the creative industries.

Why should I choose the course?

This part time course is perfect if you’re ready to take your arts practice to the next level and begin developing your own artistic voice. Building on the foundations of the level 1 qualification, it offers the chance to specialise in areas that interest you most, giving you greater creative freedom and the opportunity to produce more personal, expressive work. What will I learn?

You will develop ideas using a range of techniques across various art and design disciplines including drawing, painting, printing, and 3D. You will contextualise your own approach through research into the work of other artists and this will be used to further enhance the development of your own ideas.

How is the apprenticeship delivered?

This programme is assessed through practical work, sketchbook work and written evaluation.

What will the course lead on to?

This art and design course will support your progression, whether you aim to move on to further study at level 3 or explore career opportunities within the creative industries.

Are there any links with industry and university?

This part-time adult course is enriched with strong industry links and opportunities to engage with the wider creative community. We regularly welcome guest speakers and practising artists to college who share their insights and experiences with students, helping to bridge the gap between education and the creative industries.

Students also take part in local and national trips to galleries and museums, offering inspiration and exposure to professional practice. Out of our Advanced Creative & Digital Skills Academy, we work closely with employers and external agencies to develop live briefs, which are real-world projects that give students a taste of working in the industry. Recent collaborations have included exciting projects with Culture Warrington and Warrington Museum.
