Meet Linda Davey, HNC Visual Arts student, who is focusing on developing her artistic talents

Meet Linda Davey, HNC Art & Design: Visual Arts student, who has recently taken the time to speak with us about her time at Warrington & Vale Royal College so far and what she plans to do in the future after gaining her HNC qualification.

Linda Davey Resized1

Linda Davey studied A-level art when she was 16, but after completing a year of that qualification, she had to start working a full-time office job; however, during the lockdown, Linda began to get creative again and found her love for art. Once lockdown settled, Linda enrolled on our Level 1 and 2 Award Creative Craft – Art & Design courses at our Warrington campus, where she could focus on learning new skills such as printing, pottery and sketching and has now progressed onto our HNC Visual Arts course.

“This college is a safe environment for me to practice my craft. There are many artistic supplies, and the art studio has all the facilities I need for my various projects. “

So far on the course, Linda has enjoyed learning about how much it takes to exhibit your own artwork and the project management that comes with it – Linda has had her work shown in the 5 2 Midnight at the Royal Standard Gallery in Liverpool and the Fringe Festival exhibition located at the vibrant New Art Spaces in Warrington.

“Sarah has been very supportive and encouraging!” Linda has had nothing but great things to say about her tutor Sarah Boniface, she says that she has learnt a lot from her and that she gets along with the class well, having been a student here before going into teaching, Linda finds Sarah very relatable.

In the future, Linda hopes to get a job involved in the art community and says that this course has prepared her well for the future as it has stretched and developed her artistic skills.
