Meet Declan, HND Public Services student and aspiring firearms officer

HE Public Services Declan Dunn thumbnail

Declan started his journey with us on the Level 3 Public Services course and has now progressed to studying HND in Public Services. He realised he wasn’t quite ready to jump straight into university and preferred a smaller, more personal learning environment where he could get the closer support he needed.

During his time on the course, Declan has taken part in riot training, army exercises and has gained valuable life skills through various excursions. In the classroom, he’s learned about topics such as terrorism, cybercrime and blue light emergency response.

Declan believes the college’s strong connection with the University of Chester gives students a head start in their careers, making the transition into roles like the authorised firearms unit much smoother. He highly recommends the HND course at Warrington & Vale Royal College, describing it as offering a welcoming, homely atmosphere. Declan also points out that it’s a more affordable route, allowing students to save money while earning a highly respected qualification!
