Over the years, Equans have trained many apprentices with Warrington & Vale Royal College, who have gone on to build successful careers.
Before enrolling on the Level 5 Departmental Manager apprenticeship, Liam worked as a commercial gas technical engineer. Looking to progress in his career, he transitioned into management, aspiring to move beyond hands-on technical work and into leadership roles.
One of they key advantages of studying at Warrington & Vale Royal College is the course’s flexibility, allowing Liam to continue working full-time while gaining valuable knowledge and skills. His tutors have been particularly supportive, not only in guiding him through the curriculum, but also taking an active interest in his general wellbeing.
Jenny, Liam’s tutor, has played a crucial role in his learning journey. Despite a challenging start, Jenny went the extra mile to ensure Liam caught up and stayed on track. Jenny’s continuous support, regular check-ins, and consistent encouragement have made a significant impact on Liam’s experience.
Throughout his apprenticeship, which he studies at the college's Winsford campus, Liam has taken on a variety of tasks, including managing a diverse team and developing strategies to provide them with effective support. He has particularly enjoyed applying his newly acquired knowledge in real-world scenarios and taking on increased responsibilities within his company.
Already, the apprenticeship has helped Liam reach a significant career milestone – securing a promotion to an operational management role. Looking ahead, he plans to continue developing his skills in this position, before potentially progressing into a partnership director role in the future.
