Meet Cheryl, a Functional Skills Maths student at Warrington & Vale Royal College.
Cheryl is working hard to build her confidence in maths so she can progress to GCSE level — a key step toward her goal of becoming a qualified social worker.
Her journey with the college began on a short community course, Feed the Family with an Air Fryer, where she was introduced to basic everyday maths in a relaxed, practical setting. That experience sparked her interest and she decided to take things further by enrolling on the Functional Skills course.
Cheryl shared: “The tutors are so friendly and help you all the way. I’ve loved getting to know my classmates! I’m really enjoying the course and I’m excited to move on to the next step.”
Cheryl’s story is a great reminder that it’s never too late to learn something new or take a step toward a new career.
