What is the course about?
This course is ideal if you are looking to follow a career in the construction industry as a bricklayer. It will take you a step closer to becoming a professional bricklayer by giving you a clear understanding of what makes a skilled tradesperson in today’s construction sector.
Why should I choose the course?
If you’re interested in the specialist trade of bricklaying and want to pursue a career in the construction industry, this course is the perfect choice. You will gain an industry-recognised qualification from City & Guilds and develop your practical skills in well-equipped workshops, using a wide range of tools and materials. There has never been a more exciting time to join the industry, with a nationwide drive to build thousands of new homes each year across the UK. As a result, your skills will be in high demand, and this course will provide you with the essential knowledge and experience to get started.
What will I learn?
This comprehensive course will equip you with the skills required to progress in the building trade. You’ll learn advanced techniques such as setting out masonry structures, constructing masonry cladding, building solid walling with isolated and attached piers, cavity walling, and interpreting workshop drawings. Training is delivered in our specialist construction workshops, and you’ll benefit from access to modern classrooms and computer facilities to support your learning and connect theory with practice. Assessment methods include practical assessments, job-related tests, and online computer-based exams.
What will the course lead on to?
Upon successful completion, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to progress onto the Level 3 Brickwork course, where you’ll refine your abilities as a more experienced bricklayer. Alternatively, you could pursue an apprenticeship. The construction industry is thriving, and with hard work and experience, you could advance to become a site supervisor or even a surveyor. With a government target of 300,000 new homes to be built each year, the earning potential in this field is outstanding.
