We caught up with Beth Verry and Diana Francis, both Level 3 Beauty Therapy students who have embarked on lucrative industry placement with salons across Warrington that ended with job offers!

Bethany Verry

Beth, a former pupil of Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy, came to the college having decided that she wanted a completely fresh start from high school, where she could make new friends and pursue her passion for beauty and holistic therapy.

Although she was at first reluctant to do an industry placement, she worked together with the college’s industry placement team to find the perfect salon for her; Little Pink Beauty Room in Great Sankey. Now, she couldn’t be happier about the experience she’s had, and the salon is equally as thrilled with her and have offered her a full-time role after finishing college.

Diana, a former pupil of Penketh High School, has had similar success in her industry placement with O’Brien’s Hair & Beauty Salon. Putting the skills she has gained in the college’s salon into action, Diana has been recognised as a hard worker and talented beautician, and offered a part-time job alongside finishing her college course. She said:

“Industry placement has been so helpful and I’ve enjoyed working in a real environment. I really like who I am working with and they have given me confidence by investing in me, offering me a job and top-up courses after I have finished my level 3 qualification.”

Diana Francis

As both Beth and Diana have experienced, industry placements can really help students to stand out from the crowd when applying for a job, an apprenticeship or to university, with some even securing employment based on their work while on their placement. So, not only do students benefit from getting on the job skills and working outside of a classroom setting, but they are also given the chance to work alongside high-profile employers who could offer them employment opportunities in the future.

All of our students are expected to complete an industry placement, which can range from one day per week to a one-week block or even longer. To help our students find the placement that is right for them, we have a dedicated Industry Placement Team on hand to help source and organise these valuable experiences.
