Meet cadets Ranya Percy and Olivia Williams - two of our Level 2 Military & Emergency Services students.

Ranya Percy and Olivia Williams are just two of our fantastic Level 2 Military & Emergency Services students who are also members of the cadets and aspire to join the military in the future.

Ranya Percy and Olivia Williams cadets

After our School Engagement Team visited her former school, Hope Academy, army cadet Ranya felt inspired by the course at Warrington & Vale Royal College and chose to study here before hopefully progressing to join the army. Ranya said: “I felt that the course is preparing me better than other options in the area. There are lots of other cadets on the course so I am mixing with people with similar interests. We all want to help each other get to where we want to go. The college is a really nice environment and I love studying here.” Ranya feels that being part of the cadets alongside her course has really helped her confidence and she thoroughly enjoys teaching new starters.

Olivia joined the college after attending Ysgol John Bright in North Wales. With dreams of becoming an RAF Weapons Systems Officer, Olivia’s love of flying combined with her mum’s experience in the cadets also inspired her to join the air cadets 2 years ago. Alongside her experience in teaching, shooting and flying with the cadets, Olivia feels as though her course at Warrington & Vale Royal College is actively preparing her for a career in the industry. She said “I love the fitness aspect of the course. The free on-site gym and sport facilities make it really enjoyable and my tutors have been really helpful and patient. I’d recommend this course and the cadets to anyone looking to join the armed forces, in whichever area that may be – work hard, be disciplined and give it a go!”.
