Childcare student Maisie Wilkinson-Smith achieves dream role as a Teaching Assistant with Bright Futures!

Former St Patrick Catholic High School pupil Maisie Wilkinson-Smith chose to study at Warrington & Vale Royal College after learning about the opportunities an early years course could provide her with. Maisie’s 2-year course helped her gain a breadth of knowledge and experience, and learn the skills she needed to continue into employment.

Maisie knew she wanted a career working with young people, but after spending a day with Bright Futures and participating in an industry placement at a local school, she discovered her passion to become a Teaching Assistant.

She said, “This course really motivated me to become a Teaching Assistant. Bright Futures came in to spend the day with us, which was so inspirational. It really made me want to work for them, and now I will be! I am so grateful to my tutors and the support I have received from the college. This course has helped me gain the skills and connections I needed to achieve my dream.”

Warrington & Vale Royal College has links with over 500 employers, allowing students to benefit from shared experience and knowledge from industry experts. These valuable links also create industry placements and even career opportunities like Maisie’s.
