The former Hartford CofE High student was impressed by the simulation hospital ward at our Health & Social Care Academy and liked the sound of the wide range of content covered as part of our level 3 course.
Izzy particularly enjoys the blended learning approach to the course, where she gets the opportunity to learn at the college, online at home and at her industry placement which she attends one day a week. Isobel praised the combination of these different methods of learning, saying it allows her to get a wide range of experience and knowledge in a way that suits her.
After expressing her interest in working in pastoral care in schools, Izzy’s tutors worked closely with our employer partners to secure her the opportunity to complete an industry placement at Charles Darwin Primary school in Northwich and a private school in Chester. This has allowed Izzy to develop a strong set of skills needed to progress into her dream career. Izzy is considering a number of different universities to study psychology, and hopes to work as a Pastoral Lead in a school to support children with their mental health.
Speaking about her time at college, Izzy said “The college has a great, relaxed atmosphere and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those looking for a career in the health & social care industry. The facilities are amazing and the course gives you the opportunity to explore a wide range of routes into the industry. My tutors are supportive and easy to talk to about any issues I have and they have prepared me fully for work.”
At Warrington & Vale Royal College, our Health & Social Care students have the opportunity to study at the Institute of Technology partnership at our Winsford campus. With industry-standard facilities, including a simulation hospital ward, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience as part of their course.
