What is the course about?

This non-accredited course is aimed at those adults who wish to continue their next steps in welding following on from the very popular ‘introduction into welding’ which ran last year from our Warrington campus. This course will allow participants to practice the techniques developing in the ‘intro’ course and improve accuracy and techniques in welding.

Why should I choose the course?

This course covers a range of hand-skills and practical tasks in areas around health and safety and MIG welding principles and allows more detail knowledge and skill development for learners.

What will I learn?

Over the course you will be developing skills and knowledge in the following:

  • Health and Safety in the welding sector.
  • Develop and practice welding techniques and positions.
  • Various individual practices and welding exercises using various materials and thicknesses.

What will the course lead on to?

On completion of the course you could progress onto accredited qualifications in welding offered at our Winsford and Warrington campuses.

Are there any links with industry and university?

Welding skills are highly sought after in the local area. However, this course is designed for hobbyists and amateur welders/fabricators

What support is available?

Tutor support in sessions.

Why should I choose to study the course at Warrington & Vale Royal College?

Local market information states that these welding principles are required by local industry and apprenticeships. The employment sector is demanding these skills and therefore increases your chances of gaining employment.

What are the entry requirements?

No previous qualifications are needed, just an interest in the subject.

What are my funding options?

Please contact our friendly Learner Services team on 01925 494400
