Why should I choose the course?
If you’ve always wanted to write a novel but don’t know how to get started, or if you’ve already begun and need support to keep going, this part time adult course is designed for you. It provides the structure, guidance, and encouragement needed to help you stay motivated and make steady progress.
You’ll be part of a supportive group of like-minded students, which can be both inspiring and reassuring as you work through challenges and share ideas. The course will help you develop your story, build strong characters, and focus your writing practice in a meaningful way.
This is a valuable opportunity to commit to your writing, grow your skills, and take the next step toward completing your novel.
What will I learn?
Throughout the course, you will explore a variety of essential topics to support you in writing your novel.
Each session is divided into two parts. The first half will focus on a specific topic, introduced through discussion and a short writing exercise to help you get into a creative mindset. The second half of the session will be dedicated to your own novel-in-progress. You’ll have time to write, share your progress, and receive constructive feedback from your classmates in a supportive environment.
The topics you’ll cover include:
- Planning your novel
- Writing an effective Act One
- Developing main characters and character arcs
- World-building
- Constructing scenes and chapters
- Finding and refining your narrative voice.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a clear structure for your novel and a strong sense of direction for your writing.
