What is the course about?
This non-accredited part-time adult course is designed for those who have already completed our Getting Started with Italian, Build on Your Italian, and Italian for Everyday Use courses.
Enhance Your Italian to the Next Level will help you reach higher levels of fluency by focusing on advanced grammar, vocabulary development, and the ability to understand and participate in more sophisticated conversations. You’ll explore a wide range of topics, including Italian culture, history, and abstract concepts, while also mastering complex verb tenses and moods.
The course begins in September and runs throughout the academic year. Ideally, you will enrol and attend each half term to build knowledge consistently.
As with all language learning, regular practice outside the classroom is essential. You’ll receive weekly handouts to support your learning, although no formal homework will be set.
Why should I choose the course?
This engaging Italian course focuses on improving your speaking skills, including intonation, fluency, and confidence. You’ll also explore techniques to enhance your writing, reading, and listening skills—giving you a well-rounded grasp of the Italian language.
What will I learn?
Throughout the course, you will cover topics such as:
- Understanding and using direct and indirect objects
- Correct use of prepositions for placement
- Rules of accentuation
- Writing formally and informally (e.g. CVs, emails)
- Reading and analysing texts by Italian authors.
What will the course lead on to?
Warrington & Vale Royal College offers three short beginner courses designed to build your foundational Italian skills. Enhance Your Italian to the Next Level allows you to continue practising and expanding your knowledge beyond beginner level.
Please note: there are currently no accredited Italian courses available at the college.

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a Wellbeing Team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?
This course is suitable for those who have completed Getting Started with Italian, Build on Your Italian, and Italian for Everyday Use. You may also enrol if you’ve previously studied Italian elsewhere and have a good level of speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Those who have completed Enhance Your Italian in the past may also enrol again for 2025–26.
