What is the course about?
This 15 weeks follow-on enhanced course is aimed at those learners who have attended and achieved the three basic courses, Introduction to Spanish, Next Steps Spanish, and Advancing Your Spanish, and wish to continue to progress to A1 level.
Please note, you can only complete one of these 15 week courses, not both.
This progression course is designed to help you practive and continue learning the language, building upon existing skills, focussing on Spanish grammar and how to construct sentences. It will develop reasing, writing, speaking, and listening skills through the study and practise of grammar, vocabulary, and pronunication.Â
It will docus on developing key speaking skills such as intonation, and will allow you to build confidence through the analysis of techniques to aid writing, reading, and listening.
As with all languages you need to practise outside of he classroom and you will be given handouts when you attend each week, but no structured homework is given.
Why should I choose the course?
This Spanish course is designed to build your confidence in speaking the language, with a strong focus on pronunciation and intonation. You’ll also develop effective techniques to support your reading, writing, and listening skills—helping you communicate more naturally and fluently.
What will I learn?
On this Spanish course, you’ll expand your grammar knowledge, including key topics such as present and past continuous, present perfect, conditional forms, direct and indirect objects, and accentuation, alongside formal and informal writing.
Each week combines writing practice, group discussions, and listening activities, helping you apply what you learn in a practical way. You’ll build your confidence across all four skills—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—at A1 level.
Your progress is supported through regular tutor feedback and your own personalised learning plan, helping you track your development and stay motivated throughout the course.
What will the course lead on to?
This course provides the perfect stepping stone to your next stage of learning, preparing you to progress confidently onto our year-long Spanish course (planned for 2027/28) and continue building your language skills further.

We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a Wellbeing Team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.

What are the entry requirements?
This course is designed for adults (19+) who have successfully completed all three precursor courses: Introduction to Spanish, Next Steps in Spanish, and Developing your Spanish.

To support your progress to A1 level, you’ll need to purchase a small selection of course textbooks. These resources will be used in class and will help reinforce your learning throughout the course. Required books:
