What is the course about?

In this course, you'll explore the more advanced techniques of creative writing, such as mastering different tenses and perspectives, using figurative language, and carefully choosing the right words to bring your stories to life. Don’t worry, we’ll guide you through these concepts in a relaxed, easy-to-follow, and enjoyable way, so you can build your skills with confidence and creativity.

Why should I choose the course?

If you loved the Introduction to Creative Writing and Next Steps in Creative Writing courses, this one builds on those foundations. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this course offers the perfect opportunity to explore new techniques and share your work in a supportive, encouraging environment.

What will I learn?

On this course, you'll explore different perspectives and tenses in fiction, with plenty of opportunities to experiment and find your voice. You'll discover the power of metaphors and similes, learning how to use them effectively to enhance your writing. As a class, we’ll dive into a couple of exciting genres, exploring the key rules and techniques that define each one.

You will be informally assessed by the tutor, and you will also self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan.

What will the course lead on to?

Upon completing this course, if you're passionate about taking your storytelling to the next level, you might consider enrolling onto one of our novel writing courses, where you'll learn the essential skills for crafting your own novel, from plot development to character building.
