What is the course about?

This practical and supportive short course is designed to help parents and carers build confidence in using everyday digital tools, while learning how to keep their children safe online. This will include getting to grips with ‘school portals’ – the digital platforms used by schools to keep in touch with parents and carers.

Why should I choose the course?

This short adult course is ideal if you would like to improve your digital skills in a relaxed and friendly setting. Whether you are completely new to technology or looking to build on existing knowledge, you will be supported each step of the way as you learn to keep yourself and your family safe online.

What will I learn?

Over the 5-week course, you will develop a range of useful digital skills that can be applied both at home and in everyday life. Topics include:

  • How to use email confidently, complete online forms, and navigate school portals
  • Creating and editing documents using Microsoft Word and Google Docs
  • Understanding online safety, including how to protect your family, recognise risks, and support your children in using the internet safely

By the end of the course, you will feel more confident using technology and better equipped to support your child’s online safety.
