Health, Social Care & Life Sciences
If you have a caring nature and want to make a career out of helping others, our health, social care & life sciences courses could be ideal for you. Our courses provide a pathway into a range of careers such as nursing and mental health, and there are even higher education and university level study options.
Our Health & Social Care Academies at both Warrington and Winsford campus are equipped with a range of industry-standard equipment and facilities, ensuring students can gain the practical experience they need to succeed in this rewarding field.
Trips and visits
During your course, you will have ample opportunities for trips and travel. Past health & social care students have explored exhibitions at places such as the International Slavery Museum, Manchester Museum and the UCAS Convention, as well as completing industry placements and first aid training. Students aged 16-19 will take part in trips to local universities to discover more about higher education.
There will also be opportunities to practice your skills both nationally and internationally. Past students have enjoyed trips to Disneyland Paris and Spain to take part in the rewarding challenge of caring for people with limited English.
Industry links
You will benefit from excellent industry links and have the opportunity to take part in a variety of industry placements. We have strong connections with local employers, including hospitals, care homes and primary schools, providing you with valuable insight into the working world. Students have completed placements with esteemed organisations such as Warrington & Halton NHS Trust, St. Rocco’s Hospice, Catalyst Choices, Bright Futures and MacIntyre, learning from professionals whilst developing their practical skills.
Students have the opportunity to apply for industry placement with Warrington & Halton NHS Trust and Paramedic Cadets. Alongside the industry-relevant skills gained during your placements, you'll also build essential employability skills such as communication, customer service, enthusiasm, motivation, problem-solving, and attention to detail. This ensures you're fully equipped to succeed in the workplace after completing your health & social care course.
We regularly invite guest lecturers from various professions, including nurses, midwives, and social workers. In these sessions, industry professionals share their expertise, demonstrate available career opportunities, and showcase the bright futures that can lie ahead for our students.
