Health & Social Care Academy

Our Health & Social Care Academy aims to address skills gaps in the local area by training the next generation of health and social care professionals as well as upskilling those currently working in the sector.

Established with a £1m investment from the Town Deal and support from Warrington & Halton NHS Trust, Warrington Local Authority and many other stakeholders from the voluntary and private sectors, our Health & Social Care Academy provides students with a highly immersive learning environment and valuable industry placement opportunities. We work closely with local employers, health and social care settings and care providers in the Warrington region, identifying skills gaps and providing sector-specific training.

We also house a Health & Social Care Academy at our Winsford campus, boasting many of the same features as our Warrington academy. Specialising in Health and Life Sciences, our Winsford campus Health & Social Care Academy is a great option for anyone wanting to gain practical experience in an industry-standard environment to help them progress into the Health industry.

Our innovative academy features a range of fantastic industry-standard facilities, including a simulation hospital ward, dementia training resources and an independent living flat.

This regional centre of excellence will train students and those already working in the sector to meet local employment needs; making it the perfect place for current and future health and social care professionals to study.

Students studying in our Health & Social Care Academy benefit from an excellent ongoing partnership with Catalyst Choices. Amy Yorke, Business Centre Manager, says: "The Health & Social Care Academy has an excellent ongoing partnership with the team at Catalyst Choices. We work together in various ways, including industry placement opportunities for our students, which have, in turn, led to employment."

Catalyst Choices regularly visit the college to deliver guest lectures to our students, as well as making use of our facilities to deliver training to their own staff. We are extremely grateful for this relationship and hope it continues to develop in the future.
