Warrington & Vale Royal College empowers care sector with ongoing access to essential clinical skills training

Warrington & Vale Royal College is enhancing its support for the region’s care sector by introducing a new subscription-based model for its well-established Clinical Skills Hub - making it easier than ever for care providers across Warrington, Winsford, and surrounding areas to access essential staff training.

Designed specifically for the health and social care workforce, the Clinical Skills Hub provides practical, hands-on training in a realistic clinical environment. The newly launched subscription service allows care homes and other providers to offer their teams continuous access to high-quality training sessions throughout the year, ensuring sustained professional development and improved standards of care.

Courses available through the subscription include catheterisation, venepuncture, wound care and prevention, end of life care, and medication management, to name just a few. The Clinical Skills Team at Warrington & Vale Royal College will also carry out a training needs analysis and provide bespoke training sessions to address individual training gaps, ensuring that all members of the care provider’s workforce have a consistent level of training. Training will primarily take place at the college’s Health & Social Care Academy, located at either the Warrington or Winsford campus, where millions of pounds have been invested in state-of-the-art facilities. Care workers will benefit from using up-to-date equipment and learning from expert tutors who are leaders in their field. There is also the option for some training to be delivered on-site at the care provider’s premises.

By joining the subscription service, providers can ensure their staff are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills that directly benefit service users. The flexible model supports both new recruits and experienced staff, helping to build confidence, improve retention, and meet ongoing regulatory requirements. Subscription fees vary depending on the size of the organisation. For more information about pricing, please contact clinicalskills@wvr.ac.uk.

Amy Yorke, Business & Partnerships Manager: Health & Social Care Academy, said: “We know that local care providers are working hard to maintain high-quality services in a challenging environment. By introducing a subscription model, we’re making our Clinical Skills Hub more accessible and adaptable - so that training becomes a proactive part of workforce development, not just a one-off solution.”

Louise Appleby-Somers, Clinical Skills Educator, said: “As a healthcare professional myself, and with a clear vision for the Clinical Skills Hub, it’s really important to me to share my knowledge and skills with other health and social care staff in the local area - helping them to become the best healthcare professionals they can be.”

The college encourages care providers to take advantage of this opportunity to invest in their teams and improve care outcomes across the sector. Now is the time to explore how the Clinical Skills Hub can support long-term workforce resilience.
