Warrington & Vale Royal College is delighted to announce a new course to its vast Adult College lineup: GCSE Combined Science.

GCSE Science News Story Thumbnail

This one-year course, starting in September 2025, provides a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and physics, making it a perfect choice for those looking to gain or improve a science qualification. Essential biology topics covered will include cells and systems, homeostasis, immunology, and genetics. Chemistry units will build on the basics of atomic structure and link this into both quantitative and organic chemistry and their applications in the real world. Physics will tie in fundamental principles from all areas such as forces and energy, and will enhance students understanding of electromagnetism, electricity production, waves, and radiation - with a clear focus on potential careers.

The new GCSE Combined Science course is particularly suited for adult students planning to study a Pre-Access or Level 3 Access to Higher Education diploma at the college, with the goal of pursuing a degree in a healthcare or science-related field.

Those choosing to study GCSE Combined Science at Warrington & Vale Royal College will benefit from a fully equipped science laboratory, where they will develop practical skills through hands-on experiments and interactive learning. The course is taught by experienced tutors with extensive subject knowledge, providing expert guidance and support to help students build both knowledge and confidence. With small class sizes and a supportive learning environment, students will receive the individual attention they need to succeed.

Applications are open now for September 2025! If you’re interested in this course, be sure to apply early to secure your place.
