What is the course about?

Our exiting new T Level Health is suitable for anyone wanting a career in the health sector.

During this engaging two-year course, where you will develop expertise in the specialism of adult nursing, you will gain the communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills that employers seek. Your knowledge of the health sector will be boosted, and you will be given the opportunity to make a difference to other people’s lives and society on the whole through a meaningful industry placement.

This course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to progress into the healthcare sector. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art Health & Social Care Academy and during industry placement, and learn a wealth of knowledge and skills that will be invaluable for your future career.

What will I learn?

Throughout your course, you will prepare for a fulfilling career in the healthcare sector through a combination of hands-on practical experience and comprehensive theoretical study to build your knowledge and confidence. As well as participating in a mandatory industry placement with a real employer, you will study a range of topics such as: principles of good scientific and clinical practice, fundamental scientific concepts, standard operating procedures, management of equipment and work areas, stock control and storage, the importance of quality standards and health & safety.

What will the course lead on to?

After completing this course, you could go on to our HNC Health Care Practice, which will allow you to progress into the second year of a nursing degree when you have completed the correct number of placement hours.

You could also choose to progress straight to university to study some of the following healthcare degree courses:

  • Paediatric or adult nursing
  • Paramedic training
  • Allied health care professionals
  • Mental health nursing
  • Midwifery

Are there any links with industry and university?

Our Health & Social Care Academy has excellent links with employers, universities and community organisations including hospitals, care homes and primary schools, providing you with a valuable insight into the working world. Students have completed placements with the NHS, St. Rocco’s Hospice and Catalyst Choices, learning from professionals whilst developing their practical skills.

What support is available?

You will be allocated a progress coach who will provide you with support to help you succeed on your study programme and progress on to your chosen career or progression path. We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

This course is delivered by our expert teachers and is designed in collaboration with industry and employers. It is delivered within our state-of-the-art Health and Social Care Academy, with all the very latest industry relevant facilities, equipment and emerging technologies. This includes a hospital ward, medical equipment and medical simulation technology that allows you to perform medical procedures. We also have a purpose-built assisted living flat that can be used to develop the skills you would require to work in community care.

The unique blend of classroom delivery and industry placement will fully prepare you for your next steps, whether that be into highly skilled employment, higher education or onto an apprenticeship.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English, maths and science, or you will have needed to have successfully completed a Level 2 course and have GCSE English, maths and science at grade 4 or above.

There will be additional costs which will be communicated to you where appropriate, by your teacher. This will include:
