What is the course about?
This is a short, non-accredited course for beginners who have attended and completed the Introduction to Spanish course and are looking to continue to build on their knowledge of the language.
It is essential that you have completed the Introduction course first so that you have gained the grammar skills required to continue to learn the Spanish Language.
As with all languages, you need to practice outside of the classroom and you will be given handouts when you attend each week, but no structured homework is given.
Why should I choose the course?
This course will focus on vocabulary and grammar needed to increase confidence in dealing with everyday situations in a Spanish-speaking environment. Â It will focus on developing key speaking skills such as pronunciation, intonation, and confidence as well as analysis of techniques to aid writing, reading and listening progression.
You will also develop the knowledge of the language and learn about Spanish culture.
What will I learn?
During the course you will:
Learn to express likes and dislikes with opinions about a topic.
Learn to ask and tell the time and what time something is happening.
Learn to talk about future plans and activities (future tense).
Being able to understand and explain different weather forecast, seasons and weather-related vocabulary with clothes for that weather.
Be able to understand and say parts of the body, describing symptoms, and giving advice.
Understand adjectival agreement.
You will be informally assessed by the tutor, and you will also self-assess your weekly progress using an individual learning plan.

What will the course lead on to?
The course leads onto Developing your Spanish and Enhancing to the Next Level on Wednesday mornings only. Â Please note the College does not offer accredited Spanish courses. Â
What support is available?
We have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if required, as well as a Welfare Team that is on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed. Additionally, eligible students can access a wide range of finance and funding support to help them during their time at college.

What are the entry requirements?
This is a basic course for beginners to continue their learning after they have completed the Introduction to Spanish course. The course is for adults 19+.
Please note the College has planned two Introduction intakes in the year; one in September and one after February half term.
