What is the course about?

The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)/Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Dyslexia, Developmental Coordination Disorder and Dyscalculia.

The course will cover the diagnosis and how to support individuals with these learning difficulties in various environments.  It is suitable for anyone working or looking to work with individuals with specific learning difficulties in education, health and social care.

What will I learn?

The course is made up of five units:

●       Understand specific learning difficulties

●       Understand the effects of specific learning difficulties

●       Understand the diagnosis of specific learning difficulties

●       Understanding supporting individuals with specific learning difficulties

●       Understand the context of specific learning difficulties

The course is delivered online through Google Classroom by a subject specialist tutor.

The qualification is internally assessed using a range of methods including written assignments or tasks.

What will the course lead on to?

This qualification will support employment opportunities, in the roles of teaching staff, teaching assistants, welfare support, breakfast/afterschool club assistants, SEND and 1-1 support as well further study opportunities to the L2 or L3 Certificate Teaching Assistant courses.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements, however we would recommend that you hold at least a level 1 in English, (GCSE grade 3/D, or functional skills level 1.) If English is your second language, you will need to have achieved at least level 1 ESOL in order to be able to undertake this course. Basic digital skills are required, and you should be able to use email, access learning platforms, and submit assignments electronically. Regular access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with a stable internet connection is essential.

Are there any additional costs associated with the course?

There are no additional costs associated with this course, however you will need access to the internet to enable completion of any assigned work at home and allow access to Google Classroom.
