Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Academy
Established in 2021, our sub-regional centres of excellence for advanced manufacturing and engineering at our Warrington and Winsford campuses work in close collaboration with local employers who have voiced a need to digitalise their manufacturing processes and are keen to upskill their current workforce.
Engineering skills in demand
We are working closely with local and regional employers to train young people to meet the skills demand of the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
With many high-profile employers based locally, including AstraZeneca in Macclesfield, ThermoFisher Scientific in Warrington and Roberts Bakery in Northwich, there is no shortage of opportunities within the Warrington and Cheshire region.
Engineering during the pandemic
Whilst the pandemic has had a devastating impact on a number of key industries, the engineering sector has played a vital part in the fight and recovery from this crisis; from developing testing kits, manufacturing ventilators and PPE, to developing a vaccine.
“In their response to the current crisis, scientists and engineers have demonstrated their expertise, agility and innovation and lessons learned from the crisis will continue to inform the recovery and protect against future outbreaks,” says Dr Leevers, CEO of EngineeringUK.
The Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Academy will work in close collaboration with local employers who have voiced a need to digitalise their manufacturing processes and are keen to upskill their current workforce and recruit skilled employees.
