Share your skills: Turn your expertise into a rewarding new career

Have you established a successful career or mastered a trade? Whether you’re an accountant, engineer, healthcare professional, technician, or tradesperson, your experience is invaluable and could be just what the workforce of tomorrow needs.

At Warrington & Vale Royal College, we are proud to support the Department for Education’s Share Your Skills campaign. This national initiative encourages experienced professionals like you to explore a new path: teaching in further education (FE).

You might never have considered a career in teaching. You may be unsure where to start or whether you are qualified. That’s where we can help!

Why Share Your Skills?

People with years of industry experience and expertise can inspire students by bringing a subject to life. Teaching in FE is different from teaching in school, it is focused on helping young people and adults develop practical, career-focused skills that employers are looking for. It’s a flexible, varied, and rewarding role.

If you are thinking about a change in career or a way to give back, teaching in FE could be the perfect next step.

Earn while you learn with the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship

One of the most accessible ways to begin your teaching career is through our Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship. This apprenticeship is designed for professionals who want to move into teaching roles in colleges or training organisations, without sacrificing their income.

Key benefits include:

Earn while you learn. You do not need to give up your income to retrain.

Learn on the job. You will gain hands-on teaching experience in a real classroom or training environment.

Fully funded. The apprenticeship is typically funded by the government or your employer.

The apprenticeship covers everything from lesson planning and teaching methods to supporting learners with different needs. It is ideal for anyone already involved in mentoring or coaching, or who is simply passionate about sharing their knowledge.

From digital skills to construction and hospitality to healthcare, many industries are facing shortages of trained professionals. By stepping into the classroom or training space, you can help close the gap and ensure the future workforce is prepared.

You do not need a background in teaching to get started. All you need is:

A passion for your subject

A desire to help others succeed

A willingness to take on a new challenge.

At Warrington & Vale Royal College, we will support you every step of the way. Our expert tutors, practical training, and career-focused courses are designed to help you succeed.
