The college offers a variety of courses under the Education & Training umbrella, ranging from introductory courses right the way up to a higher education qualification. Whether you are interested in becoming a teaching assistant, a teacher or an assessor, the college has a course to suit your needs and enhance your professional development. For those with a particular interest in teaching, the Level 3 Award and Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training are the perfect fit for you.

The Level 3 Award is a short, introductory course that will prepare you for a teaching career in the Further Education (FE) sector. You’ll be taught by highly experienced staff in a hybrid teaching model, allowing you to study the first 8 weeks of the course from home if you so wish. You’ll learn about the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, inclusive teaching and learning approaches, and understanding assessment in education and training. Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress on to the college’s Level 5 Diploma, which will qualify you to teach.

The Level 5 Diploma is a recognised teaching qualification for those looking to work in the FE sector. If you already have a level 3 qualification, you are not required to complete the above Level 3 Award in order to enrol on this course. This is an ‘in-service’ qualification for those already working, or hoping to work, in education and you must have access to 100 hours of teaching in order to study the course. You’ll explore a range of analytical and practical approaches to all aspects of planning, delivery and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be qualified to teach in a wide range of FE settings including general FE colleges, adult and community education centres, prisons and youth offenders’ organisations.

As a teacher in the FE sector, you can expect to enjoy an incredibly rewarding career with optimal progression prospects. With the correct blend of qualifications coupled with experience, you can progress to a variety of roles including curriculum manager, head of department or even move into college management. It’s not hard to come across jobs in the FE sector, with opportunities available in most major towns and cities throughout the UK (source: Prospects.ac.uk).

So, if you’re looking to step into the world of education and begin an exciting career, an Education & Training course at Warrington & Vale Royal College is the perfect place to start.
